Hi neighbours! As we are apparently up and running I wanted to invite parents in HP to join our parent to parent support group in Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/483675081693099/ There are a lot of parents of young children in the HP area, many of us do not have family nearby. This group's objective is to organize a support network for when things don't go as planned, we could give each other a hand during hard times, small tasks as doing a grocery run, watching the kids while mom takes a shower, bringing them a meal, or even hang around when we need someone to talk to would be greatly appreciated by many of us! I still try to keep updated by mail to those that expressed an interest to join, but I am due to give birth really soon and I expect not to be able to take care of it for a while. The FB group releases that function from me while it keep an open space for communication. Take care! @ St. Andrew's, 5801 Hampton Street, Highland Park, Pittsburgh Friends, Over the past couple of years our own Phil Wainwright has donned his "Church History" cap and made several presentations for us on topics that have fallen under the broader umbrella of the title, "Exploring the DNA of Anglicanism." Over the next three Sunday afternoons (4 p.m.-5:30 p.m, Sundays February 24, March 3, and March 10) Phil is going to present a series of talks that will flow from the title, "The Alphabet Soup of Anglicanism." Understanding that so often the statement, "I am an Anglican," or "I am an Episcopalian," will be followed by the question, "What kind of Anglican? What kind of Episcopalian?" High Church, Low Church, Charismatic, Renewal, Anglo-Catholic (Affirming Anglo-Catholic? Forward in Faith Anglo-Catholic? Prayer Book Anglo-Catholic? Missal Anglo-Catholic?) , Broad Church, Evangelical (Sojourners Evangelical? English Evangelical? Virginia Evangelical? Sydney Evangelical?). And on and on. Hazy, lazy, crazy . . . . So the question What are all these groups and parties and categories? What do they have in common? And, what is it about our heritage and tradition that seems to have made the Anglican and Episcopalian field of Christianity such a particularly fertile one for the growth of "parties?" Should be fun, and interesting. And we'll have a light reception after. All welcome! BruceR
