[Highland Park] Special craft program for kids at East Liberty library on Saturday

Kids can decorate a ceramic bowl (to keep) for way less than you'd pay in a store: Carnegie Library of East Liberty is holding a special program on Saturday, Oct. 6th, in partnership with Kiln-n-Time pottery studio. Come down to CLP East Liberty to register, in the Children's room. The cost is $5 (paid in advance), which is less than 1/3 of what it would cost to do the same thing in store. We have reservation slots remaining, but it's limited to 20 kids. The program is from 11 am to noon, in the library. I'd love to see some Highland Park folks there. Dear Highland Park Neighbors, Thought I would put this on the Highland Park list before I post it anywhere else. I am selling my beloved Subaru Outback. I bought it new in 2003 and it has fewer than 40,000 miles (it's one of two family cars, and is mostly only used when I need to use the wagon for hauling stuff from Home Depot). It was the top of the line Outback when I bought it, and is still fabulous! Here is the ad I wrote up for Craig's List 2003 Subaru L.L. Bean Edition., only 39,900 miles, loaded with every option including the superior optional 3.0L 6-cyl. engine, AWD, cruise control, halogen fog lights, dual moonroofs, heated leather-trimmed seats and heated mirrors, premium audio package including 6-CD changer in dash and 11 audio speakers, alloy wheels, roof rack, etc. This is a low mileage, one owner, dealer-maintained, clean, always garaged, car, with all records available for all care. New tires, brakes and passed inspection this spring. This is a great car that has lived a pampered life and needs absolutely nothing. Everything from the power moonroofs to the AC works perfectly. All maintenance records available, as well as clean title. The car does show signs of normal wear and has dings on the body, which are strictly cosmetic. Priced to move. I'm hoping I can submit the following for distribution on the list: Anybody interested in cheap tickets to the Pirates game on Tuesday, October 2 game against the Braves? Last evening game of the season! Starts at 7:05 PM. I have two sets of two tickets that I can't use, & am hoping to sell. The first set is for Section 105 (Lower Outfield Box), Row N, Seats 9 & 10. [Highland Park] Corded drill, brand new, for sale

Hi, I needed a corded drill recently and ordered it from Amazon in a hurry. When it came, I discovered it was too heavy for me to use (I'm pretty small). It weighs 5 pounds. I paid $43 for it and will sell it for $25. It has never been used. I've attached a picture from the Amazon website and what follows is the manufacturer's description from the website: "The Black & Decker DR560 7.0 Amp 1/2-Inch Drill/Driver is a powerful and compact drill that easily handles the toughest applications. (Stefanie Moser) For those of you who followed what happened to my cat, Spice, two weeks ago, I thought you might be interested in hearing the end of the story. Through conversations with neighbors, I learned that another nearby neighbor was trying to responsibly deal with a colony of feral cats living next door to them. The remainder of the story I learned from speaking with the neighbor, the woman who trapped Spice and staff at the Animal Rescue League. The colony of cats recently had a litter of kittens. The neighbors have a young child who loves cats and would be at risk for rabies if the colony were left un-checked. So through a veterinarian friend of theirs, they solicited the help of a woman who very humanely traps feral cats. On her first attempt, she trapped Spice and two of the kittens, thinking Spice was the mother. The woman who does the trapping assured me (and I believe her) that she does not leave trapped cats unattended; Spice did not spend the night outside in a trap, terrified. She takes the cats to the safety of her home, then to the Animal Rescue League the following day. The Animal Rescue League scanned Spice for a micro-chip, which they did not find, then proceeded to attempt to spay her. Discovering that she had already been spayed, they sewed her up, gave her a rabies shot and returned her to the trapper. I took Spice back to the ARL last week and they checked again for her micro-chip, which, a! gain, the scanner did not read. The ARL gave her a new chip (no charge) and gave me the record of her rabies vaccination. Lessons learned: 1. According to the director of the ARL, micro-chips are not readable 25% of the time, either because they malfunction or they have migrated to another part of the body and aren't picked up without a full body scan. If you rely on a micro-chip to identify your pet, you might want to re-think that strategy! Spice now wears a collar with tags at all times. It is not a collar with a quick-release. I am aware of the choking risk, but believe it to be smaller than other risks to her not being identified, especially now that she is marked as a feral cat because her ear has been 'tipped.' 2. There are responsible people out there who do a service to our neighborhoods by volunteering their time to trap, spay/neuter and release feral cats. I am very grateful that my neighbor sought out and found such a person. 3. The Animal Rescue League scans all cats brought into its facility for micro-chips. This is the whole point of the micro-chip. Unfortunately, not all shelters follow this policy. 4. The Animal Rescue League staff handled my inquiries with the utmost professionalism. This experience has renewed my support for this organization. Thanks again to all of you who offered your kind support as I went through this. Spice has recovered, and so have I! Lofted Bed: I have officially upgraded to a queen... or downgraded since I am now closer to the floor... Either way, I won't be needing my loft anymore. Note: I don't have instructions for it, so it may be worth it to take it apart together. I will help you! This bed is SUPER comfy- more comfortable than my new bed even... Especially awesome for small living arrangements. Asking $75. Small storage shelving unit: The shelves are fairly narrow, but it is a great unit for certain things. As an artist, I had plenty little things to store in there! Perfect condition. Asking $20 OBO. Kitchen hutch/storage: This has served me very well in my time at my previous apartment, as I had minimal counter and storage space. It is in pretty good (but not perfect) condition, and has a small dent in the front that you can see in the photo (probably can be set right with slight hammering- I just haven't tried it). Asking $45 OBO. Large cabinet/shelving unit type-thing: (Obviously, a furniture company would never hire be based on my names for things...) Anyhow, This is a great storage unit that holds and encloses a lot of stuff. Please pardon my moving mess that frames the unit in the photo... I've included outer and inner shots.
