[Highland Park] Park Bruges September Jazz night cancelled

Hello Neighbors, The first Monday in September is Labor Day, so we have cancelled Jazz night due to the holiday. Slide Worldwide will be back to play the first Monday in October (October 1st). Our next Monday event will be our Neighborhood Tasting Night. On September 17th we will be featuring Octoberfest beers paired with our chefs take on traditional German food. We will have Octoberfests from Spaten, Ayinger, Great Lakes and a few other breweries. So mark your calendars. Hi, I’ve recently moved into the lovely Highland Park and am offering private French tutoring for children and adults starting from Sep 17. After my first degree from Oxford University I trained as a French teacher at the University of Canterbury. For the last three years I have taught French in a London high school. As a fully qualified French teacher I can design a course of lessons to suit your personal needs whatever your level and goals. Some common goals are: - Starting from scratch: vocabulary and key phrases - Learning how to get by on your holiday - Help with French essays and writing - Practicing your conversational French - Speaking exam preparation - Understanding and practicing French grammar I offer a free, introductory first session so that we can meet and discuss what you’d like to get from tutoring. If you then decide that you want to proceed then lessons cost $30/hr. I will be out of Pittsburgh from Sep 4 until Sep 15 but am available to meet next week at your convenience. [Highland Park] Car break-in

At approximately 3:30 am Saturday August 25' our car was broken into on King avenue. A tall young dark skinned male was seen running from the car and was followed In a car by our neighbor until he disappeared between the houses on Bryant St. He stole a Garmin and a pack of cigarettes from the car. I was also told that there have been some home break ins near the vicinity of King avenue this week but have not been able to confirm. Be on the look out and talk to your neighbors so that everyone is on the watching. Ask questions of strangers in the area. Asking if you can help them may discourage them from hanging around. We need to encourage the City to have more patrol cars moving through the neighborhood on a frequent basis. Mike
