We were just delivered a truckful of belongings from our storage unit, many of which do not fit in our apartment. As of now (and there will be many things to follow, I'm certain), we have the following items for sale or free: * small DVD player - $5 * a bunch of VHS tapes (inquire about titles; most are pretty decent good films) - FREE * box full of white votive candles in glass jars from Ikea - $2 * wooden R.H. Phillips three-sheved wine rack - $5 * rustic wood and metal low shelf set - $5 * wooden drafting table (very ink-stained but in otherwise good condition) - $10 * antique Lincoln rocker that was damaged in the move. Could be fixed , but the wooden arm and part of the leg split. Cushioned upholstered seat, back, and arm rests. April 1 & 2 | 8PM Vanessa German delves into the sound and rhythm of words in this restaging of her one-woman show that explores the role of poet and audience in relation to the ritual of theater. In “root”, German transports the audience from nineteen eighties Los Angles, back to Martin Luther King’s Memphis, storming forward toward Louisiana, and lastly into modern day Juarez. The sound elements of “root” are inspired by the music of Ella Fitzgerald and the incantation of words. Driven by the musicality and rhythm of these words, the story of “root” uses the Mississippi River and jazz as guides. Moving images provide an inspired backdrop for this unique performance. German invites audience participation and interaction during the PRE-SHOW mixers one hour prior to her performance. Receive a blessing and/or collaborate with German to write an original poem in the theater lobby during the mixers. These interactions encourage what German views as the “root”, i.e. the intersection of artist, community, and theater. “root” is directed by Heather Scarlett Arnet with video and production design by Jessi Sedon. [Highland Park] for sale: lovely handmade wooden rocking horse

My kids have outgrown this lovely wooden rocking horse. It was made by a family friend and is still in good used condition. It is not a small thing (about the size of those old fashioned spring-bouncing horses). Pictures available by request! Asking $20
