Dear Fellow Highland Park Community Members: Pittsburgh Soccer in the Community is excited to have a new home, right in the shadows of our community in a new state-of-the-art Field House in Stanton Heights that includes an indoor turf field. The facility is located at North Aiken Avenue at the top of Black Street (behind the new North Aiken Commons development). This was made possible through a partnership with the Neighborhood Academy, which has built its new school facility on the same grounds. Pittsburgh Soccer in the Community (PSC) was founded in December 2004 by former English professional soccer players James Meara and Mark Taylor with the aim of providing children in “at-risk” communities of Pittsburgh with soccer tuition and lifestyle skills. Since then, PSC has reached the lives of over 700 children in numerous communities throughout the Pittsburgh area and beyond. PSC will be holding its annual fund raising event this Saturday, November 12 at the Field House. It's not too late to register to attend this fun event which will feature great food from Labriola's, live music and an opportunity to check out the new facility that will serve Pittsburgh's youth for many years to come. [Highland Park] Looking for good home for our family dog

We recently discovered our 2 year old son is allergic to pet dander and we suspect our 7 month old is as well. After several trips to the emergency room and daily medication we've come to the point where we need to find a new home for our beloved dog Buzz. He is a black and tan coonhound/weimaraner mix. He is 9 years old but is still very active. Buzz is up to date on all his vaccines and we have a ton of dog supplies that would go with him. [Highland Park] Shadyside Presbyterian Church Mission Market-

Hello Neighbors, Shadyside Presbyterian Church is having a fair-trade themed event that carries the spirit and 60-year legacy of our church's Christmas bazaar. The Mission Market offers handmade crafts and items provided by our international mission partners, in addition to items from Ten Thousand Villages. Global food and fair-trade coffee, served in mugs decorated by SPC Nursery School, will be available. A bake sale will support the East End Cooperative Ministry, and a book sale will support scholarships for The Neighborhood Academy. This year's Malachi Market (SPC’s alternative gift program) will open and continue through early Advent. All proceeds will be reinvested into the mission partnerships. The Mission Market will take place on Saturday, November 12 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the Parish Hall of Shadyside Presbyterian Church, at the corner of Amberson St. and Westminster Dr. in Shadyside. [Highland Park] Highland Park Trails Interest Meeting

Pittsburgh Trail Advocacy Group, along with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and the City of Pittsburgh will be facilitating a Highland Park trails interest meeting on Monday November 14th at 6:30 at the Union Project. The purpose of the meeting is to get more neighbors engaged in trail planning and trail building and start to develop a trail master plan for the park. If you are a dog walker, hiker, jogger, or mountain biker and would like to see more woodland trail connections within the park, than this meeting is for you. [Highland Park] kitten on N. Highland - 'lost'??

late last night (Mon., 11/7) there was a kitten in the 1100 block of N. Highland (between Bryant Ct and Hampton St) roaming around......anyone missing a kitty? It was beige with darker rings around its tail and somewhat 'striped' around its belly. No collar. wondering if anyone else may have seen it or if it belongs to someone and it just got out!? thanks! Sue ;)
