Hi friends of Highland Park, I am a pediatric pulmonologist at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. We have a research study for toddlers with wheezing if any of you are interested in participating or hearing more info: Thanks, Shean Does your child have a cough and/or wheeze? If so, your child may qualify for the APRIL OCELOT Research Study Preschool aged children can often have coughing and/or wheezing that leads to visits to the doctor's office, urgent care, emergency room and often hospital stays. Researchers at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC are currently studying ways to prevent coughing and wheezing in preschool aged children and to lessen the symptoms if they do occur. The study will last about 12 months and requires study visits and phone calls. Compensation will be provided. St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Highland Park, Pittsburgh All Saints Music Festival 2012 Tuesday, November 1, 8 p.m. Lessons and Carols for All Saints It will be an evening of exceptional choral music and meaningful reflection at St. Andrew's, here in the Highland Park neighborhood of Pittsburgh, as the Festival Choir, under the direction of Tom Octave (Director of Choral Music at St. Vincent's College, Latrobe) offers anthems by Parry, Brahms, Stanford, Goss, Faure--and concluding with music from G.F. Handel's Messiah: O Death, Where is Thy Sting? and "But Thanks be to God!" Soloists will include Gabriela Schunn, Head Chorister, Mary Pat Luley, Mezzo-Soprano, and Dr. Oyebade, Tenor. Joseph Tuttle, Organ Scholar Emeritus of St. Andrew's Church, will play the concluding voluntary, Incantation pour un jour saint, by Jean Langlais. Hello Neighbors, My church, an inner city church on the North Shore, Allgheny Center Alliance Church (www.acac.net) is collecting tons of shoes, adult/children's books: "wholesome fiction", classics, Children's books of all kinds, Nonfiction: leadership, theology, general spiritual topics, commentaries, self help, reference, writing handbooks, history, biographies, bibles and children's bibles (Please No: textbooks, dictionaries, encyclopedias, comic books, diet books, books older than 14 years, magazine, books with magic themes like Harry Potter or DIsney), journals to write in, fun and educational games, jump ropes, sporting equip such as soccer balls, art supplies like crayons, pens, pencils, paintbrushes, paper, and lined or plain writing paper. (shoes can be for children, women and men..... All of this will be shipped to Kenya for distribution when our missionary team arrives after the holidays. The collection will take place through the month of November. We so appreciate anything you can donate--one may wonder why pay shipping costs and not just purchase all of the above once in Africa w with donated money? Kenya is so very poor there is nowhere to purchase any of this. Shoes are probably THE most practical item but anything you have is again so very appreciated. I will designate one pick up day to your home, sometime at the end of the Kenya drive (late November, early December) based on your responses.
