We are planning to attend the City Parks Permit Day on 3/27 to try to reserve a pavilion in Highland Park for a specific date. If you have been through this process before, do you have any advice or comments? Is it important to arrive by 7:30am? Would you arrive earlier? How long does the process take? Do we get to choose the time that we want to use the pavilion or are there set times available? Or is it a whole day reservation? I know what to do and where to go from the city website, but I'm just looking for some information from anyone who has experience with the process. thanks, Amy

Hi Neighbors, I'm looking for 2 or 3 wooden whiskey barrel planters so I can grow vegetables this spring and summer. [Highland Park] Kohler Briar Rose Caxton Undermount Bathroom Sink NIB

We bought this lovely sink for a bathroom remodel and decided to do something different. It was purchased very recently and has never been out of its box (still has its tag too on the right there). Most of these sinks are out of stock at various manufacturers online and locally. They have to be special ordered which causes a significant time delay. This is here now. The price is $950, which is less than we paid, and less than any place online that we can find, plus no shipping involved. This is an undermount sink & it's dimensions are: 16.125" depth, 8.25" in height, and 19.25" in width. Its base color is a light biscuit color with pink, green, and brown in the briar roses pattern. I know there are a lot of Morningsiders like me lurking on the HP Listserve - so please, we want to hear from you! Do you live in Morningside? We want to hear from you! Includes: 5400 block of Stanton (Union Project side of street) 5400 blocks of Jackson, Avondale, Wellesley 800 and 900 blocks of Heth’s, Highview, Jancey, Chislett. Nearby Neighbors in Highland Park, East Liberty & Stanton Heights are also invited! Morningside Area Community Council (MACC) wants to know: How can we reach YOU!? Three Cs Initiative: Community. Consensus. Communication. Exciting developments are underway in Morningside – popular seasonal activities, new businesses, new residents, the development of the Morningside Elementary School and so much more! MACC wants to more effectively communicate – to each other as well as to the broader Pittsburgh community -- about Morningside and its many assets. MACC has engaged communications partners – Diane Wuycheck along with Patricia Murphy -- to work with us to build a communications strategy and a mechanism for implementing it. This initiative is being funded by a grant from the City’s Urban Redevelopment Authority. Diane has 30+ years of marketing and communications experience. Pat is a community development professional, the author of the book “Organizing for Community Controlled Development: Renewing Civil Society” and a professor in the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Social Work. MACC encourages the involvement and input of all! The communications strategy will be built by you and for you through a series of interactive methods with multiple opportunities for the community to come together, provide insights and ideas about communications. We will work toward consensus on how we communicate about Morningside The process starts this month! Plan to attend a community meeting – whether or not you are a MACC member. Bring your family and friends. These will be facilitated discussions with a set of goals to cover – for example, Morningside’s strengths and weaknesses regarding communications; Morningside issues you want to hear more about; communications means you prefer (newsletter, email, phone, social media), etc. All meetings will be held at the VFW building at 1820 Morningside Avenue. Choose to attend either of the following community meetings Saturday, March 20, from 10 a.m. - Noon OR Wednesday, March 24, from 6-8 p.m. A summary of the discussions will be posted on MACC’s Web site for review and comment. Then, a third community meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 14, from 6-8 p.m. to come to consensus on what the MACC communications priorities should be for 2010 based on your input. Those recommendations will form the basis of MACC’s 2010 Communications Plan. Questions??
