Dear Neighbors, We are planning a Halloween costume parade and contest at the Highland Park fountain on Saturday, October 31st from 3:30 p.m. until about 5:00 p.m. The kids can show off their costumes while parading around the fountain and parents can take photos. We'll be giving out prizes in various categories & don't worry, every child will get a prize! We will provide pizza and drinks so you don't have to worry about having time to feed the kids before heading out for trick or treating. If it rains, well, we'll get back to you on that... WE WILL NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP SET UP, SERVE FOOD, JUDGE COSTUMES, AND CLEANUP. PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL IF YOU ARE INTERESTED. Hi Neighbors, I want to send out a very big THANK YOU to all of you who replied to my urgent appeal for an Ear Specialist last week for my Mother. I had so many wonderful replies....l can't thank you all enough!!! Through one of your emails I was able to contact an Audiologist who makes house calls. She saw my Mother today, and I'm thrilled to report that Mom can hear once again! What a great Easter gift for her. Once again, thank you all so very much for being such great neighbors! Dear Highland Parkers, I'm looking for tutoring space for an adult literacy program I coordinate down the street in East Liberty. St. Andrews has been wonderful in providing classroom space for our folks to use. At the moment, I'm in great need of finding quiet places for our students and tutors in the evenings and/or early mornings. Does anyone know of any community centers, organizations or businesses with some extra room (maybe an empty office/conference room, etc) that they could donate to a good cause a few hours per week? Ideal location would be Highland Park, East Liberty, or anywhere on the Penn Avenue arts corridor. Thank you, Jamie Phillips
