CLASS SUPPLIES: Supply list to be provided prior to class CLASS FEE: $200 *Make Your Own Clothes Workshops (A, B, C) *Date/Time: Monday-Friday July 5-9, 9am-12noon July 19-23, 9am-12noon August 9-13, 1pm-4pm Ages 8-14 CLASS PREREQUISITES: INTRO TO SEWING WORKSHOP OR SIMILAR EXPERIENCE AS APPROVED BY STUDIO DESCRIPTION: Take your sewing skills to the next level while learning to make your own clothes. Improve your pattern reading skills and explore your creativity while making several items for yourself! Sign up for 1, 2 or 3 of these workshops – we will be working on different projects for each workshop. During this week-long program your child will continue to develop their skills in sewing and reading patterns by making their own accessories and handbag! CLASS SUPPLIES: Supply list will be provided prior to class CLASS FEE: $200* * *American Girl Doll Clothes Workshop *Date/Time: Monday-Friday July 19-23, 1pm-4pm Ages 6-12 CLASS PREREQUISITES: Intro to Sewing Workshop, or similar experience as approved by the studio. DESCRIPTION: During this week-long program your child will continue to develop their skills in sewing and reading patterns by making doll clothes sized for the American Girl Doll! Choose fabrics and embellishments to design your very own dress! CLASS SUPPLIES: Supply list will be provided prior to class CLASS FEE: $200 *Quilting Workshop *Date/Time: Monday-Friday August 9-13, 9am-12noon Ages 8-14 CLASS PREREQUISITES: Intro to Sewing Workshop, or similar experience as approved by the studio. DESCRIPTION: During this week-long program your child will continue to develop their hand and machine sewing skills while making a baby quilt! CLASS SUPPLIES: Supply list will be provided prior to class CLASS FEE: $200 *Young Kids Intermediate Sewing Workshop *Date/Time: Monday-Friday July 26-30, 9am-12noon Ages 6-9 CLASS PREREQUISITES: Intro to Sewing Workshop, or similar experience as approved by the studio. DESCRIPTION: A camp just for younger kids! This camp is Monday-Friday from 9am-12noon. During this week-long program your child will expand on their sewing skills through a variety of challenging and fun projects, including some hand sewing! Hello Neighbors. This morning I woke to discover that my 3-story, sloped-slate roof had finally given up its 2-week burden of ice and snow. Yesterday I had spent some time shoveling around the back of my house; had I been doing so when the ice came down, I easily could have been injured or killed. Some of the chunks of ice were almost as big as my torso. I would encourage you to take a good look at your home and determine if any of your doors/exits are significantly safer from falling icicles than the others; if so, please stick to the safer doors until the ice falls! Please also be on the lookout for your neighbors and do what you can to keep your sidewalks, steps and (as applicable) your piece of the back alley safe for walking on. If you are able to do so, I'd also ask you to go the extra mile - clear a little sidewalk or alley beyond the sides of your house. If your next-door-neighbor's path is unsafe but yours is safe, and there's a feasible way to do so, encourage your neighbor to use your path. I recognize that many of us are tired of shoveling snow and wish the city were doing more to keep the roads and sidewalks clear. But a little effort on our parts will go a long way - and while it may not seem so now, this snow will eventually pass. Be safe, keep warm and be sure to take advantage of your extra time outdoors to get to know your fellow neighbors battling the snow! After the first snow two weeks ago, I met a neighbor, shoveled a bit of snow for her and was handsomely rewarded with a mug of hot chocolate and some shortbread cookies! :-) Eric D. The Penn's Corner CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) sign up is open! Fresh fruit, vegetables, and farm products are right around the corner. Sign up for an 8, 24, or 32 week CSA season and take advantage of our convenient pick-up location in your neighborhood. While many CSA's and farmer's markets don't begin until May or June, Penn's Corner CSA begins the middle of April and continues into November. With a CSA membership, you will also receive a weekly e-newsletter with recipes, cooking information, and a list of what items were harvested for you fresh that week. CSA deliveries are on Tuesday and Wednesday (depending on your location) afternoons starting in April. Each box will have between 8-10+ items a week. Hello Neighborhood, I'm new to the area and I am without a bed. I live on Sheridan and have been looking on Craigslist for a few weeks for a decently cheap bed in good shape. I am looking for a Full or Queen size mattress and box spring. If you have a stand or bed frame that would be nice too, but not necessary. I'm looking to spend between 20-50 dollars, and I know that mattresses are much more expensive than that, but If you've got an extra one that's in your way or you wouldn't mind helping someone out, send me an email!
