John and others, if you are looking for people to jog with consider joining the running groups in pittsburgh. You can find them online. The People Who Run Downtown meet at 5:30 on Tuesdays at various locations, check out their website. The pittsburgh sports league has a Thursday night group that meets about 6:15. RunPgh runs longer runs on saturday and they are on facebook. (They may be on hiatus for a time but check them out). You'll find many runners cross between the groups and there is no fee associated with being a part of the group. ~ellie johns

For nearly 2000 years Christians have affirmed in the words of the Apostles' Creed, "From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead." The concept of a "last judgment," a final accounting of the meaning and conduct of our lives, is deeply embedded in a traditional Christian understanding of "what happens when we die"--and in fact is a common theme in a number of religious traditions. But what does that mean? How do we imagine it? As a part of our on-going Adult Programs series, "From Here to Eternity: Conversations about Life, Death, and Resurrection," as we explore these concerns as they are reflected both in religious teachings and in cultural expression, please join us this Saturday for a Movie Night to enjoy a really fun and intersting movie, "Defending Your Life" -- Saturday, December 12, 7 p.m. St. Andrew's Church, 5801 Hampton Street, Highland Park, Pittsburgh Defending Your Life . . . . Hey friends and neighbors, My daughter attends Pittsburgh Dilworth...the arts and humanities magnet school at the corner of Stanton and Heberton. They have a fantastic music program...dilworth world drummers, piano, etc...and they are ALWAYS in need of instruments. Recently, I was able to connect a Highland Park neighbor who was giving away a piano (thanks Teri) to Dilworth. Mrs.Russo, the music teacher shared that they can always use instruments...that many kids take lessons but aren't able to afford the instrument to practice at home...and so she would love to be able to loan out instruments through the year. So as the holidays draw near, and you clean out closets, replace old instruments with new, etc, please consider giving your instruments to Dilworth. You can contact me...I will pick them up and be sure that Dilworth receives them. Mrs. Russo said it is fine if the instruments need some repair or service...she has a repair guy to do that. They can use almost anything... If you know of any other possible sources for instruments...please let me know. Thanks...and have a great holiday! -- Cara

Sacred Heart Parish Loretta's Christmas Cookie and Candy Walk When: Sunday, December 13, 2009 Time: 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Where: Sacred Heart School Cafeteria 325 Emerson Street Shadyside Over thirty different types of cookies, candies, and Christmas treats will be displayed for sale. Buyers will be given a box or boxes to fill with as many different kinds of cookies they would like. The cookies will then be weighed and will sell for $7.00 a pound. Some cookies and candies will be sold for individual prices. I no longer can keep my cat after 5yrs. He is a gray and white friendly cat. He is very laid back and ideal for an adult rather than a young child.
