[Highland Park] changes to recycling pickup

The city is now picking up corrugated cardboard, paperboard, magazines, catalogs and phone books for recycling in our neighborhood. Just put your stuff in blue bags. Corrugated cardboard boxes need to be flattened and tied. Yes they will take pizza boxes. This is really great, and the city should be commended. You will be amazed at how much this can cut down your garbage every week. Paperboard is stuff like cereal boxes. Look in your pantry and you will see it is full of this stuff. Please take advantage of this new service, god knows we pay enough taxes for it. Here is a link to the details on this program. Dear Neighbors, The weather has warmed up just enough, it seems for certain uncaring and irresponsible dog owners to leave their poor animals chained up outside for hours at a time. On Wellesley Avenue, between Negley and King, where I live, there are many such unfortunate hounds, who bark incessantly on and on, and on and on, and on and on. This not only leaves the animals in a vulnerable and insecure position, the barking is extremely annoying. Any thoughts about what can be done to help the dogs and the residents who find the noise aggravating and worrisome? Kimberly Latta
