Anthony Coccia of "Anthony's Original Italian Ice" died a few months ago, so sadly this will be the first summer in a long time during which we won't see him near the park entrance with his Italian ice cart. Greetings, I just wanted to give everyone a "heads up" that you have a local community member that specializes in Computer ( PC ) Support and repairs and also has a "quick answer" help desk that is a local number, ( I'm on Winterton St. ... not in Asia ! ) for existing clients. My name is Steve Karl and I run and maintain the Pittsburgh PC Help Desk which can be found at: http://www.sightsea.com/pghpchd/ My "pet peeve" ::: New Computers that run very poorly because that "name brand company" put all that junk-ware in the machine. I've gotten really good at cleaning them up and making them perform well. Free Anti-Virus software that out performs the "2 big sellers" and is very "light weight" and easy on your PC. Initial phone consult is no charge, and most "quick calls" from existing clients are also no charge. Hardware repair / replacement also. [Highland Park] thank you Zone 5 officer!

We just read in the paper this morning that a Zone 5 police officer who suspected a drug deal at N. Euclid and Hampton (at St. Andrew's) pursued the dealer into East Liberty and was involved in a crash. The paper stated that the officer had to go to the hospital (and so did the suspect)- I'd like to say thank you to the officer for helping to stop criminal activity in Highland Park. Hopefully the officer's injuries were not too serious. My husband has wondered if he has seen drug deals on Heberton near Wellesley, and others Ive spoken with have mentioned seeing suspicious activity around HP east of Highland Avenue. Perhaps this kind of diligent police presence will have an effect- we can only hope. Again, thank you to the officer and we hope you are recovering- you make a difference in our neighborhood!! Hi Neighbors The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is coming to East Liberty! The PSO will present a Community Engagement Concert at Peabody High School Auditorium on Thursday, October 25th, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. PSO Resident Conductor Daniel Meyer will conduct. All ticket proceeds from the concert will stay in the East Liberty Area Community, benefiting music education initiatives. Tickets for adults are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Tickets are $5 for seniors and students 18 and under, and group discounts are also available for groups of ten or more people. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 412.361.5662. Tickets are on sale at Enrico's Tazza D'Oro as well. The Dilworth PTA is selling advertisements for the event program brochure.
