Part time housekeeper/mother's helper needed. 5 to 10 hours a week to start. More hours may be available within 3 months due to the start of the busy holiday season and the beginning of a new business venture. Duties would include house cleaning, occasionally running household related errands, some afternoon and evening babysitting for a 5 year old entering all day kindergarten. Your own transportation is a plus. You would be reimbursed for mileage or given a weekly gas allowance, based on your preference. We do live walking distance (1 to 4 blocks) if you don't drive. Inn that case we would be willing to pay for your bus pass after you have proven to be a good employee. You must have very good references and experience with children. Flexible schedule for house-related duties. We have a friendly, older dog. Please do not apply if you are allergic to or afraid of dogs. Pay starts at $10 an hour. Raise to $12 an hour after 3 months of good work. If you are a student or foreign student in need of room and board, this may be a possibility. [Highland Park] 1995 Van seat

I have a van seat for the very back of a 1995 Plymouth Voyager. I traded in the van in 2005, but forgot to take the seat!! So does any one want a van seat???? It is in wonderful shape. If not, does anyone know how I can get rid of the van seat? It did not go on trash morning, and it is too heavy to schlep around. Any takers!!!!!!!! After all, you can sit on it!! I am posting this for Jan Stayianos, Highland Park Crime Chairperson: Sorry for the short notice, but i wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow, Tuesday August 7th, is National Night Out. Whether or not your block is organized, or block parties are planned, put your porch lights on, sit out on your porches, walk up and down your block and talk to your neighbors. Make sure you lock your back doors while you're out front. The idea is to make a presence. I've had quite a few calls this summer about gangs, nuisance and crime related issues. Friends have also told me about incidents that were put on the e-mail list. Make sure to report all incidents to 911 or use silent complaint forms. I am trying to get some information from zone 5 to put on the e-mail since we didn't have a July meeting and there is no newsletter in August. Please let me know if you are having drug activity in your little corner of Highland Park. I also want to invite you to come to the zone 5 public safety meeting which will be held next Tuesday, Aug. 14th, at 7pm at the union project. If you didn't know, we no longer have access to the station on the circle because the police have moved down to the facility on Washington Blvd. We will now be holding our zone 5 public safety meetings at the union project the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm (changed from the second Wednesday) because that was the only available day. A lot of people from Stanton Heights and Morningside came to our last meeting because they had some issues and needed answers. Hello. Does anyone have suggestions of nurseries or tree farms where I can buy mature trees? Obviously it can't be "full grown" but I need something bigger than a seedling. Also, has anyone had luck growing Thuja evergreens in Pittsburgh conditions (clay soil, not full sun)? Any other suggestions for tall screening trees? Thanks! Diane Shaw
