[Highland Park] Anthony Coccia has died

Anthony Coccia of "Anthony's Original Italian Ice" died a few months ago, so sadly this will be the first summer in a long time during which we won't see him near the park entrance with his Italian ice cart. [Highland Park] ROBBERY ON PORTLAND STREET

SOMEONE CLIMBED THE FENCE AND GAINED ENTRANCE TO OUR YARD AND STOLE A COLOR TELEVISION, A SWIVEL BASE AND THE REMOTE CONTROL. THIS HAPPENED LATE SATURDAY NIGHT. WE DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING AND THE DOGS DIDN'T BARK SO THEY MUST HAVE BEEN VERY QUIET. THANKS GOODNESS THAT IS ALL THEY DID. WE REPORTED IT TO THE POLICE ON SUNDAY MORNING WHEN WE NOTICED THE THEFT HAD OCCURRED. THE POLICE OFFICER TOLD US THAT EARLIER IN THE AFTERNOON ON PORTLAND STREET, A 40 YEAR OLD MAN WAS JOGGING...HE WAS NOT FROM AROUND HERE AND WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE STREETS...HE WAS LOOKING FOR THE COFFEE SHOP...WELL HE WAS HIT WITH A BASEBALL BAT AND ROBBED OF HIS WALLET. THIS NEIGHBORHOOD IS JUST BECOMING TERRIBLE. I SUGGEST THAT EVERYONE HELP BY KEEPING OUT AN EYE (PREFERRABLY 2 EYES) ON THEIR PROPERTY AND THAT OF THEIR NEIGHBORS.

I'm having trouble getting this note posted: Thursday night someone stole two hanging wooden baskets from in front of our porch steps in the 6100 block of Jackson. They were quite large square boxes and quite distinct- they were handmade (by my father in law for a mother's day present for me). I had taken two of the three handmade baskets down for them to get some rainwater late Thursday afternoon. They had beautiful multi-colored begoinias in them. Unfortunately, I forgot to rehang them and left them sitting at the base of the steps overnight. (Not anywhere near the curb however, so they wouldn't have given the impression they were out for the trash). In the morning they were gone. I filed a police report. Hello All Being that I love candy, I have a bunch of wrappers from Resse's Cups that have codes on them to be used on Ebay. And since I get all my stuff from the garbage, I have no plans to use these codes. If anyone is using these codes and would like a dozen more, please let me know. Also, I have a few codes from 24-packs of Pepsi if you are looking to catch Lex Luther. I love Pepsi more than candy, but only have a few of these codes. Bob
