The 1st class has been really successful and fun. Aboubakar Oscar Camara is a great dance teacher! The class will be held at St Andrew (in the preschool, down stairs), every Wednesday night from 7:30 to 8:30. We will meet tomorrow night. Each class cost $15 / person. We have a beautiful tri-colored female cat in our basement. We have been feeding her for several weeks, and finally brought her inside, but our 15-year old male cat will not accept her. Help! I've gone from part-time to full-time work and need local, flexible, fun, friendly, non-religeous (but spiritual ok) daycare for a 2-1/2 year old. Also open to a nanny/child care provider to watch her in our home 1 or 2 days per week for the next few months (possibly longer) until we find a place we like. Any leads are greatly appreciated. I have several things that we don't need anymore and anybody who is interested can take them. I will post them in the freecycling net, but I thought to offer them first to the neighbors. Twin matress, very good condition, almost new. e-machine computer A bag of stuffed animals and dolls and lots of small games and things for kids activities, a big puzzle (one of those very complicated ones made from tiny pictures that will eventually become a dolphin) At some point somebody was collecting things for some afterschool program, that might be quite useful. - www.unionproject.org - Invisible Children movie at Union Project THIS Saturday On Saturday February 11th at 6:00 pm in the Union Project Atrium the Invisible Children Movement (www.invisiblechildren.com) will be showing a documentary about child soldiers in Uganda titled, "Invisible Children". “Invisible Children, Inc.” is a non –profit organization, dedicated to providing financial resources to “invisible children” by documenting their true, untold stories in a creative and relevant way, resulting in positive change. Invisible Children has a dream to inspire the young and young at heart, to challenge their thinking, and empower them to “be the change they wish to see in the world” through action. Monday Evening Conversations The first of the Union Project and Open Door's February series was a great success with the viewing and discussion of the movie "Crash". Over 40 people attended and participated in an honest and thought provoking conversation. Please join us again this coming Monday to eavesdrop on a conversation with a white pastor and an African American pastor who will be discussing their journey through loving across their differences. February 13th: The Difficulty of Loving Across our Differences -eavesdropping on a conversation with a white and African-American pastor who have been wrestling through their differences in ministry and friendship. New call for volunteers Now that Union Project is open for business thanks to the help of over 1600 volunteers over the past 4 years, we are ready to take on a new endeavor with volunteers to continue the success of Union Project. We are now ready to take volunteering a little bit further by forming a core organization of specialized volunteers in addition to our workday groups. The Union Project is looking to our loyal and new volunteer base to join and form “The GROUP,” our new core volunteer organization. We are in constant need of volunteers to help the Union Project grow. We have created a revolutionary volunteer model which structures specialized volunteers into roles befitting their knowledge/interest. Each of the fields of expertise will be comprised of one head and a certain number of members. Currently, we are in search of individuals to head these volunteer communities. The communities (or groups) that need leaders include: Marketing, Promotions, Business Administration, Web/Graphics, Volunteer Development/Management, Venue Operations, Sponsorship/Partnership Outreach, Art Class Assistance (Stained Glass, Ceramics, Mosaic), and General Maintenance, Construction and Building Upkeep. As a leader, you will be responsible for coordinating and organizing your specialized volunteer community. We are looking for dedicated, self-motivated leaders interested in having fun while furthering your education in a real world discipline of your interest all while helping a great organization. Possible internship credit, practicum opportunities, free events and additional incentives are available to those who participate. We will be holding two information sessions to further explain and answer questions. At these sessions you will be given an opportunity to experience our building and organization as well as get a chance to sign up for communities that interest you. These sessions will be held at Union Project: Thursday February 16th from 7-9pm and Saturday February 18th from 5-7pm. RSVP requested, but not required. . For Sunday, February 12, 2006: At the 10 a.m. "hour between the services" our Highland Park neighbor and friend Christine Frechard-Harbison, proprietor of the "EuropArt" gallery on Mellon Street, will be our guest at the "Coffee and" Conversation to discuss her vision and plans for an Institute for Arts and Languages to be located here in Highland Park. Things are moving along, and St. Andrew's is glad to be a partner and supporter in the effort. Come and hear the story! At 12 noon the Coffee Hour following our 11 a.m. service is hosted by our Outreach Committee, with the pre-Valentine's Day theme, "Have a Heart for Hunger." A pleasant selection of seasonal dessert refreshments--and an opportunity to make a donation to the Hunger Programs (Meals on Wheels, Soup Kitchen, and Food Pantry) of the East End Cooperative Ministry. All donations at this event are matched by an anonymous contributor, so we are encouraged to give generously. At 3 p.m. St. Andrew's Senior Choral and Organ Scholar Steve Lipnichan will continue in the 2005-2006 Organ Lecture and Recital series with a presentation, "The German Romantic Organ in America." [Highland Park] lead paint confirmation and removal/covering

Hello! We're in need of qualified/certified people who confirm the presence and then can SAFELY remove lead paint in our home (and, possible, paint over the space afterward...although we like doing that ourselves too). We want to paint our LR, DR, and BR...the paint is cracking from the window frames, so we can't just paint over it in those areas; the BR is covered with wallpaper, but we're pretty sure there are multiple layers of paint underneath. Has anyone had such work done in the past? I'll be contacting the painters listed on the HP contractor list this week, but hoped someone had specific information about lead paint.
