The final hour of Good Friday observance at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Highland Park, will feature: Music of Passiontide St. Andrew's Festival Chorus Joanne Luchsinger, mezzo-soprano; Guy Russo, tenor Strings from the Pittsburgh Festival Orchestra Melissa McBride, Conductor Music from Messiah, by G.F. Handel; Fantasia on a Theme of Tallis, by R. Vaughn Williams; Adagio, and Two Passiontide Hymns, by Albinoni. The musical program begins at 2 p.m., the Third Hour of Good Friday, March 25. All are welcome. St. Andrew's is located at 5801 Hampton Street, between North Highland and North Negley Avenues, one block south of Bryant Street and four blocks south of the park, in the East End Pittsburgh neighborhood of Highland Park. [Highland Park] Leftover Hay from Spring Party

Hello All If you missed the Spring Party at the Farmhouse today, it is not too late to still get a piece of it. The kids were hunting for eggs in fresh hay. So now that the kids are gone, there is all the hay left (or what the kids did not wear home). If you think you can use some hay, please head on up to the Farmhouse and scoop it up. It is located between the building and the playground, and on the slope below the playground (headed towards the storage building). This is real hay, not straw. If you go, you may need a rake to gather it. Have fun. Bob

[Highland Park] Reservoir of Jazz

Reservoir of Jazz will take place again at the entryway of Highland Park across from our newly renovated fountain. We have a wonderful line up that we will announce soon and hopes that you will all mark your calendars for each Sunday in August as well as the first Sunday in September from 5-7PM. Citiparks has hired back a few employees, and they will be co-facilitating the events this summer along with the Highland Park Community Club, funds by State Rep. Joe Preston, and WDUQ-FM. If there are neighbors who have a business or perhaps work for a company that might consider becoming an "supporter" of the ROJ please feel free to contact me. The Reservoir of Jazz has proven itself to be something that our city has come to know as a wonderful place to hear great music. [Highland Park] Dryer For Sale

Hi Moved to Highland Park recently, have a new white electric super capacity maytag dryer for sale. Bought it at Lowes 1 year ago, but they installed the plug wrong and it burned out the motor. Right before I moved here from Forrest Hills Lowes delivered a brand spanking new replacement...which now sits lonely and unused in the basement storrage of my lovely apartment here in our neighborhood. If there is anyone who needs a dryer please let me know. I paid $379 but will take best offer on it -- I just want it out and if I can hook a local family up with a good dryer for a good price, then we will both win! Thanks! Okay, Spring, so the rumors promise; will be here this weekend. With this in mind, I just wanted to remind everyone that we have a really good, thorough, and diligent Gardener/Landscaper right here in our midst. His name is Frank Moschella, and you can reach him at Francisantone(a)aol.com, or (412) 361-0406. Why am I pushing for him? Well, he is a neighbor, and a very considerate, and helpful one at that. He is not, however; the King of self promotion. I know he would prefer to be working more locally, but many of his current customers are a good ways out. I am hoping that this will at least get him on the list I remember being constructed a year ago, and even better; inspire a bunch of work for him here in the neighborhood. Now, I know the snow has cleared, and you're looking at all the leaves and stuff in your gardens, and not wanting to go near it... Who ya gonna call ? Cheer Brett

[Highland Park] April HPCC Meeting this Thursday

Hello All The Highland Park Community Club will be holding its April meeting at St Andrews Church, 5801 Hampton Street, on Thursday, 3/17/04, starting at 7:30 pm. Nothing says St Patrick's Day like a meeting! This month, the Highland Park Community Development Corp (CDC) will be presenting what is happening on Bryant Street. They are working with a developer to fill in a big empty lot, and will be discussing the future of Terry Villa. That about all I know for now, but I plan on finding out more at the meeting. I hope you will join me in finding out what has been going on and what we will be seeing in the future in our Business District. Everyone is welcome.
