My last message had, indeed, a message when it left my server and, likely, when it went through the moderator, but somehow ended up blank after that. Sooooooo, I'm re-sending a modified message ONCE and if this one is blank there's nothing I can do about it. My last message was that I throught it time that the Highland Park listserv be either replaced by, or supplemented by, a forum software package where messages could be separated by subject and would be available to new arrivals, or new participants. I also think that forums would increase participation as not everyone wants to send e-mail to the listserv for 100% distribution, nor would all participants want to receive e-mail on every subject from every participant. One of my favorite forum software packages is vBulletin from Jelsoft ( http://www.vbulletin.com/ ). There is a charge - $165 for a perpetual license and support for one year, and $30 per year thereafter for updates and service. This is pretty cheap for the capabilities it makes available. The issues then, are: (1) does this move have any support among the Highland Park citizenry; (2) who would pay for it and how (how is the present listserv paid for?); and does this require any changes in the server presently used for the listserv, and, if so, would there be a cost involved. Perhaps the moderator or whom ever is involved in maintaining the listserv has some input on this subject. - Jim

[Highland Park] Free Antique Chairs

I've set two chairs in front of my house at 5653 Callowhill St. (near the corner of Mellon). They're lovely antique chairs that we've had for a little while and have started to fall apart a bit. They're nice, but they could definitely use some loving. First come first served. Erik Schark

[Highland Park] found our checkbooks!

I thought everyone would be happy to know that they found our checkbooks in West Virginia! The police had pulled over a car and found it full of stuff, and our checkbooks were among them. l. I just wish the Pittsburgh police took this as seriously as the West Virginia police do. The officer told me that they have a special unit just for the purpose of pulling cars over. So hopefully all's well that ends well. Thanks for all of your support and well-wishes.

The Farmers Market Friends is hosting a planning workshop FIFTY WAYS TO LOVE YOUR MARKET! on Saturday, January 14 from 9:30 to noon at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. [Highland Park] doors need shortening

Dear HP neighbors, We just had carpet installed and now two doors are too long. About 1/2 to 1 inch from the bottom needs to be sanded or planed off. Recommendations for this small job would be appreciated. Thanks, Geoff

Does anyone get a Frankferd Farms (organic groceries/household products) delivery? I'd like to use them, but don't know of a local buying club to meet the delivery minimum, and can't make their on-site pick-up times. Thanks! Leslie
