FYI: Our Arson Investigator (who lives in Highland Park) heard the booms, as he was walking his dog Sunday. He reported that he believed the booms to be shotgun blasts coming from the Lincoln Ave area, but will investigate today. The Bomb technician (who lives in Stanton Heights) also reported he would scour the woods to determine if there is any evidence of explosives. I will continue to keep everyone updates as I receive additional information. In the meantime, keep calling if you hear any suspicious sounds. [Highland Park] Looking for help with Highland Park web site

Do you know PHP and MySQL? Do you know of a good, free, implementation of a community calendar we can use on the Highland Park web site that runs on FreeBSD? If so, I'd like to talk with you about putting in some volunteer time for the Highland Park web site :-) I've run the site for a while now and have maintained a calendar that required me to update the actual HTML file. The calendar did not look like a calendar and did not allow others to contribute events. I have not had the time to update the calendar for 2005 so it is blank... It would be great to find someone else in the neighborhood who can help out with the site in this very specific way. There are other things the site needs as well, but this is the first one I'd like to tackle for the new year! Thanks for your help, Rudy

The Sitar Indian Restaurant on Bryant Street changed hands late last year and became Taj Mahal. Dr. Reddy opened the restaurant in 2001. Union Project will accept your old tree at the Union Project between Saturday January 1 and Saturday, January 8. Please place your tree in the side yard in the area that has been designated for Christmas tree drop-off. Union Project members and volunteers will turn your tree into mulch for the Union Project flower beds from 12-4 pm on Saturday, January 8. January Stained Glass Classes Continue to fill up Stained glass classes for January sessions 5a and 5b are filling up. You may also register early for any 2005 stained glass class. In this class you will learn to repair and restore stained glass windows. This course will take you through simple repairs to complete disassembling and reassembling of historic 100-year-old stained glass church windows. Completed windows remain the property of the Union Project. You will learn how to cut and replace broken or missing glass, glaze, lead, solder and putty a window. This course will give you enough background to make your own new stained glass windows or restore your historic windows. The class fee is $175. The class is open to students of any skill level.
