Highland Park resident and artist Maritza Mosquera's Immigrant Body: in translation opens on Saturday June 5 and runs until June 26th at Artist Image Resource on the North Side. (518 Foreland Street. 412.321.8664) June 9th is hosted by Education Innovations, Inc. Immigrant Body: in translation presents voices of an American community through collaborations, dialogues and installations. It brings people together to share individual stories of immigration and emigration within and outside the United States. Dialogues: Homebody: are informal community dialogues about where we come from. They take place at Artists Image Resource on Wednesdays from 7 - 9 pm. June 9 hosted by Latin American Cultural Union and Education Innovations, Inc. June 16 hosted by Hill House Association and Latin American Cultural Union Collaborations: Gatherings to capture stories and images were organized on individual basis and with assistance from Aliquippa Alliance for Unity and Development, Hill House Association, LEDP at Liberty Elementary School, The Jewish American Museum of Pittsburgh, Latin American Cultural Union, Education Innovations and other community groups. Come view the exhibition, share a light snack and take part in the installation as it furthers its collection of our stories of immigration or emigration to the United States, Western Pennsylvania, and Pittsburgh. Artists Image Resource is funded by the PA Council on the Arts, the Allegheny Regional Asset District, the Heinz Endowment, the Pittsburgh Foundation, an Anonymous Pittsburgh donor, and individual contributors. Maritza Mosquera is a painter and installation artist, born in Quito, Ecuador, now residing in (Highland Park) Pittsburgh, PA. She uses listening as a practice in all her work including art, activism, parenting, education programming and Re-evaluation Counseling. [Highland Park] Yard Sale

On Sunday June 6, from 9AM - whenever we decide to quit, about 100 of our fellow Highland Park Neighbors will have Yard Sales at the same time. We have a great time and as many as 1000 people from our neighborhood, the city and suburbs come and buy our treasures. If you are a neighbor in Highland Park and want to participate as a seller of stuff, the Community Club wants to help you. We provide advertising and signs, balloons and, most importantly lists of items for sale and maps of sale locations. Volunteers hand out these maps at two locations in Highland Park (the corners of Highland and Stanton and of Negley and Hampton). Simply send a check for $12 (made out to HPCC) to: J. Wolfe 5910 Wellesley Avenue Pittsburgh 15206. I need the information by Wednesday June 3 at 9PM. On Saturday morning June 5 you can pick up the signs and balloons on my porch for the sale on Sunday. Hi, The Nuin Center at 5655 Bryant Street has commerical six foot folding tables for sale for $25. They are available to buy on Friday June 4 from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. These are great to use for your treasures for the Annual Yard Sale on Sunday. They will also be available on Sunday from 9 AM-Noon in our parking lot. For more information, call 412.661.6108.
