[Highland Park] Organizational meeting for change in city leadership

For those interested in a change in our city leadership..... an organizational meeting will be held today, Thursday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Red Room Cafe, which is located at 134 S. Highland Avenue. The cafe is just finishing up construction so don't be fooled if it still does not look open. Yes, the meeting will be there despite soaped windows, etc...! What is our purpose? We intend to form an organization (working title in the works!) whose mission is to draft and elect the city's next mayor -- one who might be a credible and electable candidate that has not already been identified. Short of that lofty goal, our purpose would be to organize citywide a significant number of passive and proactive citizens that will have a positive and significant impact on the upcoming mayoral race. At the we will do the following; (1) review the mission statement of this organization, (2) preview the organization's strategy and action plan, (3) present draft of profile of the "ideal" candidate, (4) review draft of pledge of potential candidates, i.e. what we expect candidate to commit to in exchange for our support, and (5) review draft of what potential organization members would commit to, i.e. guiding principles. [Highland Park] Pittsburgh Bill of Rights Defense Campaign needs your help

Pittsburgh Bill of Rights Defense Campaign needs your help to pass a "Civil Liberties Safe Zone" resolution in City Council. 282 communities representing 49 million people have passed such a resolution. Help make Pittsburgh number 283. The Patriot Act gives local law enforcement powers that are in contradiction to the Bill of Rights. We must defend our civil liberties. Please contact your City Council representative Len Bodack and ask him to support the pro-civil liberties resolution without modifications. (Peduto, Udin, Carlisle, and Shields are supporting it; we need one more vote to get it passed.) [Highland Park] HPCC Meeting Thursday

The HPCC meeting is this Thursday, April 15th at 7:30 pm, at St Andrews Church. David Hance will be updating us on the Heth's Run project. In case you don't know about it, this involves the Butler St bridge, the Zoo parking lot, and the former Yard Debris drop-off location. Find out how this may impact traffic patterns and the City Farmer's Market . We are lucky enough to have the Union Project Market during the Summer, so we should have no problem getting fresh, local produce. Come on up to the meeting after you drop off your tax returns at the Post Office. If you haven't started on your taxes yet, better get going. See you Thursday. Bob

[Highland Park] Education Innovations, Inc. celebrates one year!

In that year, we developed our Enhanced Learning System, worked with CMU grads to develop LMS, our proprietary learning tracking system, developed the Synapse Strategy, SchoolSynapse, and a bunch of multidisciplinary clubs. WE DIDN'T MAKE A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY. But we're having a helluva good time. Things are looking good for this year. In a few months, we'll be unveiling NatureLAB, a program that will make you wish you were a kid again! Come and celebrate with us.
